Since I got into both The Magnus Archives and Vampire: the Masquerade, I found an interesting connection
Vampires in vtm are meant to be terrifying monsters that are the opposite of humanity, and there are 14 Clans, so it makes sense that the each could reflect a different primal fear that humans have, sorted into the 14 Entities (plus Thin-Bloods and the Extinction for fun)
Banu Haqim: The Hunt - The Banu Haqim are known as “the Clan of the Hunt” and are known for being assassins, which mirrors the idea of chasing and hunting that this fear focuses on. The Blood Addition Bane also fits well with the addiction to the Hunt that its avatars often experience. The Hunt is also attached to law enforcement and often uses justice to motivate its avatars, which is a core focus of the Banu Haqim
Gangrel: The Slaughter - The Gangrel originate as a warrior clan from Ennoia, which relates to the Slaughter’s attachment with the fear of war. The Gangrel’s Feral Impulses also matches well with the blood lust and raw aggression that the Slaughter induces and feeds upon.
Hecata: The End - The Hecata’s obsession with Death makes them a clear connection with the fear of the finality of death and all things morbid and dead. The Hecata’s necromancy can be related to the items of cheating death such as the Catalogue of Trapped Dead and the animated cadaver
Malkavians: The Spiral - The Malkavians loose attachment to sanity and their visions that cause them to lose grip on what is real ties in very well with the Spiral’s themes of insanity and lose of reasoning. Their compulsion of Delusion aligns almost exactly with the Spiral’s twisting of perception and warping of what is real. Malkavians also have a symbolic attachment to mirrors and distorted reflections, which is also common with the Spiral
Nosferatu: The Eye - The Nosferatu’s habit for being silent observers and spies aligns itself to the passive, watching nature of the Eye and the fear of anyone being able to see you at any time. Their compulsion towards collecting secrets also fits with the Eye since it revolves around secrets known and uncovered, something the Nos specialize in. They themselves also experience a fear of being seen because their horrid appearances can often break the masquerade or lead to ridicule
Ravnos: The Vast - The Ravnos are travelers and wanderers that countless move across the world, which fits with the Vast and the idea of infinite possibles and expanse. Ravnos being dare devils also fits with the fear of heights the Vast induces since they will preform dangerous stunts and acrobatic tricks.
Toreador: The Stranger - The Toreador are often the most human looking out of all vampires save for their extreme beauty which is almost outside of what is humanly possibles, which is very similar to the Uncanny Valley and the “almost-human” quality of the Stranger. Toreador are also tied closely with music, dance and theater, which are all symbols used by the Stranger.
Tzimisce: The Flesh - The Tzimisce are the legendary Fleshcrafters, inspiring fear of horrible monstrosities of sinew and betrayal of the body, which is basically the definition of the Flesh. Taking a piece of someone’s body can also be used as an anchor or a grounding object (Jon’s rib), which aligns with the Tzimisce and their Possessiveness.
Venture: The Web - The Venture’s need for control and their constant politicking makes them a perfect fit for the Hidden Machinations, which deals with the fear of being controlled or manipulated. Them being (supposedly) at the top of vampire society also fits with the fact the Web always had the upper hand and was behind most of the events in TMA.
Brujah: The Desolation: The Bruja’s strong passion and Violent Temper align well with the fiery devotion of the Desolation and its avatar’s general disposition. Their compulsion of Rebellion and desire to “burn down” systems of control also fits with the destructive nature of this fear.
Tremere: The Buried -
(This one is the one I like the least and was a hard fit, so I may move stuff around in the future). The Treme’s pyramid smothers the people inside of it with hierarchy and leaves them trapped in the system, aligning with the metaphorical suffocation and entrapment of the Buried. Their Bane of Perfectionism also presents as a “crushing” expectation, which would fit with the Buried on a more conceptual level.
Lasombra: The Dark - This one feels pretty self explanatory but the Lasombra’s cold nature fits the descriptions of the Dark and its icy waters. The Dark also has a cult and ties to religious beliefs as it uses ignorance to control people, which is something the Lasombra have strong ties to. Their Bane of Ruthlessness mirrors how coldly cruel many Dark avatars can be such as Rayner trying to kill and posses a child.
Ministry: The Corruption - The Ministry and the Corruption both deal heavily with temptation, as the Hive sings its song of love, safety, and pleasure to its victims in the same way the Serpents do. One of the nicknames for the Ministry are the Corruptors
Duskborn/Thin-bloods: The Extinction - The Duskborn are the newest of the Kindred clans and the Extinction was said to be a new development as a fear. They both are signs of the end of the world, with the Extinction’s full manifestation being said to destroy humanity and the Thin-bloods connection to Gehenna.
Salubri: The Lonely - The Salubri being isolated due to propaganda and hunted to near extinction makes them a very Lonely clan. They also have ties to being slightly more peaceful, as the Salubri tend towards nonviolent hunting methods and the Lonely very truly killing its victims.
Anyways, once again feel free to critic this or pose any additional supports for any of these categories.

sorry this is a very silly ask but. asking as a fellow fan of both TLT and TMA: what entities do you think the lyctors would serve?? personally I’m a big fan of Extinction!John, Flesh!Mercy, and Stranger!Cytherea (the not-Sasha parallels are too strong to ignore lol)
Oh boy oh boy!!!
John - I am a huge fan of John as an avatar of the Extinction. There isn't any need to fudge a damn thing. He went through an ascension almost beat for beat identical to an Avatar's, and checks every box we ever saw for the Extinction's domain.
Augustine - Belongs to the Eye. He could never stop looking for the truth, examining every variable he knew and carving away at that niggling doubt, that inconsistency, until he had ferreted out the key to John's most closely kept secret. He trades in secrets with Mercymorn, using them as leverage. If he has secrets all his own we never discover them, but I'm still comfortable aligning Augustine with the Ceaseless Watcher.
Mercymorn - I agree that Mercymorn is the Flesh. Her anatomist's specialization and the power it gives her over bodies would be qualifier enough, but the Flesh also manifests as dysmorphia, the fear of being physically changed, reshaped, and shaped from viscera. I firmly believe that if tma had ever addressed reproductive horror, it would have fallen within the domain of the Flesh. When Mercy delivered the "sample" to Wake, that was in service of the Flesh. The dripping viscera mixed with invitro paraphernalia that creep through the Canaan bubble under Wake's influence are a consequence of Mercy's plan made manifest, and could have been plucked straight from that Fear's domain.
Gideon - We know less about Gideon the First, which makes it harder. Most of the applicable Fears—the Lonely, the Stranger, the Spiral—he is decidedly more a victim than an avatar, but we saw him vividly put the fear of prey in Harrow. Gideon the First serves the Hunt.
Cytherea - She's the Stranger, you're so right! She's not-Dulcinea, of course. A stranger replacing a beloved friend, and no one can tell the difference. The Stranger also covers taxidermy, or, in Cytherea's case, the Beguiling Corpse. And for a hat trick, the Stranger also encompasses performance as the art of lying, a deception that breaks down one's sense of self. Cytherea worked that art on Gideon, apparently just for fun, chipping away at her with pretty stories and sharp compliments until Gideon was ready to die as the perfect cavalier.
I don't know if you meant just God's Duplicious Sluts, the Horribly Old People, but since I'm warmed up:
Ianthe - She's a servant of the Web, The Spinner of Schemes, The Hidden Machination. Power and control, baby. We still don't know what her game is, or how much of what she's done was intentional vs. improvisational, but one thing we do know is that she covets having control over others. She's even described once as a spider (tucked inside a shoe).
Harrow - Deeply embedded in the Buried. When Harrowhark is not crushed by responsibility while literally living in a hole in the ground, she's drowning in salt water and debt.
Thank you for asking, this was a lot of fun!
#honorable mention goes to:#Pyrrha who has been scarred by the Stranger and an agent of the Spiral chipping away at G1deon's reality just by existing#but refused to become an avatar#and to Cristabel: Agent of the Web#the woman who told John he was a god explained the soul to him and then killed herself in front of him to make sure he used it#and then came back for a second go around to invent the cavalier oath and do the same damn thin to Mercy to create the first lyctor#there is no one who has more deliberately shaped the fate of the universe than Cristabel Oct#Alfred I'd say is Lonely but that's just Vibes I barely know the guy#Our girl Gideon is Desolation#A hidden burning rage an impulse destroy that terrifies her. A fierce longing to be destroyed burned and consumed to feel a moment's warmth#tlt tma au#the locked tomb#john gaius#augustine the first#mercymorn the first#gideon the first#cytherea the first#cytherea loveday#ianthe tridentarius#harrowhark nonagesimus

Russia proposes banning quadrobics and furry fandom
[This article was originally posted on the main blog for Otherkin News, on DreamWidth: https://otherkinnews.dreamwidth.org/95252.html Orion Scribner @frameacloud wrote it on December 8, 2024.]
The Kremlin-aligned Safe Internet League is an organization for censoring the internet in Russia and educating the public about risks they may encounter there. The State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children helped establish the organization in 2011. The League’s Ombudsman is Irina Volynets. In the spring of 2024, Volynets said that the furry fandom and quadrobics are both dangerous hobbies. She said that furries dress as pigs and eat from troughs. (Later, a furry explained to the news that they don’t do that.) Soon afterward, Volynets claimed to have received death threats from quadrobists, which she said shows they’re generally hostile. The League doesn’t plan to ban cartoons for having furry characters. Instead, they want to ban quadrobics and furry fans for encouraging “crazy” behavior and having direct connections with LGBT. Russia bans LGBT for allegedly being an extremist movement.
At the end of the summer of 2024, Russian pop singer Mia Boyka humiliated a small child for expressing an interest in quadrobics. Boyka derided the cat-masked child to tears on the concert stage in front of a booing audience. Boyka then posted a video clip of that to her TikTok, asking her followers what they thought of quadrobics. The child’s parents filed a police report, because they hadn’t consented to Boyka doing any of this. The child had been brought on stage because she had gotten lost at the concert so her parents could come find her. Other celebrities and authorities scolded Boyka for her cruelty. Yekaterina Mizulina, head of the Safe Internet League, wrote to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation that she thought that what Boyka did was unacceptable treatment of a child, even though she didn’t support quadrobics either.
In September, soon after Boyka’s video clip went viral, Russian Senator Natalia Kosikhina proposed banning quadrobics. The Senator claimed that the sport was dangerous because supposedly, quadrobist teens attack and bite people who visit parks. So far, I haven’t found names, dates, or proof that those sorts of attacks actually happened. State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab says the ban is unnecessary, because the Code of Administrative Offenses would cover any bad behavior that could develop in connection with the hobby, whereas the hobby itself is a healthy form of play.
Something consistent across the articles that I read about this is that they describe quadrobics as a fashionable hobby among children and teens, derived from normal ways that smaller children play, and connected with the furry fandom. They don’t mention therianthropes.
About the author: Orion Scribner is a moderator on the Otherkin News blog. I used machine translation to get the gist of the Russian-language sources, which isn't a real translation, so I welcome corrections to that from fluent speakers. However, I never write articles with the assistance of procedural generation or so-called artificial intelligence (AI), and that type of content isn’t allowed on this blog.
Annotated List of Sources
Fliskaya, Anna, and Lomeiko, Alexandra (Анна Флиская, Александра Ломейко) (September 11, 2024). “Больше запретов — выше интерес. Кому и чем не угодили квадроберы.” (“More bans, more interest. Who and what did not please the quadrobists.”) 360.ru. https://360.ru/news/obschestvo/bolshe-zapretov-vyshe-interes-komu-i-chem-ne-ugodili-kvadrobery/ Archived September 27, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240927163837/https://360.ru/news/obschestvo/bolshe-zapretov-vyshe-interes-komu-i-chem-ne-ugodili-kvadrobery/
Bessarab’s interview with 360.ru, where he said the ban isn’t necessary. 360.ru is the news site counterpart of the TV satellite channel called "360°," which has 24-hour news. It's owned by the Russian government, and I noticed in one of the other articles from them that they had distorted the facts of events.
Kedr.Media (September 12, 2024). “«Может привести к трагическим последствиям». В Совфеде заявили о необходимости запрета квадробинга — детского подражания животным.” (“‘It could lead to tragic consequences.’ The Federation Council has declared the need to ban quad-racing — children's imitation of animals.”) Kedr.Media.https://kedr.media/news/mozhet-privesti-k-tragicheskim-posledstviyam-v-sovfede-zayavili-o-neobhodimosti-zapreta-kvadrobinga-detskogo-podrazhaniya-zhivotnym/ Archived December 4, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20241204123625/https://kedr.media/news/mozhet-privesti-k-tragicheskim-posledstviyam-v-sovfede-zayavili-o-neobhodimosti-zapreta-kvadrobinga-detskogo-podrazhaniya-zhivotnym/
About the proposed ban, and how psychologists and authorities don’t support the ban and think it’s okay for children to be quadrobists. Kedr.Media is an independent social media blog that usually covers news about the environment.
Kholodov, Vlad (Влад Холодов) (April 26, 2024). “Психиатр Федорович: Увлечение «фурри» может нарушить психику ребенка.” (“Psychiatrist Fedorovich: The furry fandom can violate the psyche of the child.”) Общественной службе новостей (Public News Source). https://www.osnmedia.ru/obshhestvo/psihiatr-fedorovich-uvlechenie-furri-mozhet-narushit-psihiku-rebenka/ Archived May 26, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240526235959/https://www.osnmedia.ru/obshhestvo/psihiatr-fedorovich-uvlechenie-furri-mozhet-narushit-psihiku-rebenka/
This is the original interview with the children’s psychiatrist Alexander Fedorovich about the furry fandom. Despite the clickbait headline, Federovich says that the furry fandom isn’t inherently bad for children, but parents should supervise and pull children out of it if they get into age-inappropriate risks. That seems reasonable, but he does make a strange claim that role-play can interfere with a child’s developing sense of identity, and that it would be healthy only if they do not have an animal character all the time.
Kosolapova, Tatiana (Татьяна Косолапова) (September 12, 2024). “Психолог рассказала, как вести себя при встрече с агрессивными квадроберами” (“The psychologist told how to behave when meeting with aggressive quadrobist.”) Vzglyad. https://vz.ru/news/2024/9/12/1286730.html Archived November 8, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20241108083139/https://vz.ru/news/2024/9/12/1286730.html In Russian.
An interview with a psychotherapist from Moscow State University, Vera Sukhikh, about what she thinks of quadrobics. She praises their athleticism as they play outside, and doesn’t think it’s inherently any harm. The journalist claims that quadrobists attack and bite people. The psychotherapist doesn’t actually agree that that happens, but advises that if they do attack you, they’re only children, so you should just explain to them that’s not appropriate behavior. Media Bias Fact Check rates this newspaper as a questionable source with propaganda and many failed fact checks.
Lutsenko, Nadezhda, and Petrov, Anatoly (Надежда Луценко, Анатолий Петров). (September 5, 2024). “«Замаскированная форма экстремизма». В России призвали запретить движение квадроберов.” (“‘A Disguised Form of Extremism’: Russia Calls for Banning Quadrobics Movement.”) 360.ru.https://360.ru/tekst/obschestvo/zamaskirovannaja-forma-ekstremizma-v-rossii-prizvali-zapretit-dvizhenie-kvadroberov/ Archived October 8, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20241008065407/https://360.ru/tekst/obschestvo/zamaskirovannaja-forma-ekstremizma-v-rossii-prizvali-zapretit-dvizhenie-kvadroberov/
Political scientist Alexei Yaroshenko has an interview with 360.ru about what he thinks of quadrobics. He says Russia should recognize quadrobics as an extremist movement and banned. He says quadrobists attack passersby because when people imitate animal behavior, they are no longer guided by human morals. He says it’s the same as how people can be transgender in the West. He compares it with the “Blue Whale Challenge,” and says that quadrobics is also a deadly game. (Orion’s note: the Blue Whale Challenge is an urban legend. It was a moral panic in 2016 where people were afraid that millions of youth were committing suicide as the climax of a specific series of dares being given to them by administrators on social media.) He says that if children play on all fours, then next they will want to cross the street at the wrong place, as animals do. Everything he said was out of touch with reality. This is also the only source I read that claimed that the pop singer hadn’t really insulted the little child, that she had told her she was beautiful without her mask. That’s a distortion of facts, because independent news sources and Kremlin-aligned ones had all agreed that the pop star had gone too far in mistreating the child.
Moscow Times Reporter (September 13, 2024). “What Is Quadrobics, Russia’s Viral But Divisive Youth Subculture?” The Moscow Times. https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2024/09/13/what-is-quadrobics-russias-viral-but-divisive-youth-subculture-a86370 Archived October 8, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20241008073201/https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2024/09/13/what-is-quadrobics-russias-viral-but-divisive-youth-subculture-a86370
Media Bias Fact Check rates this as a high credibility source with a left-center bias. This is the English-language source where I first heard about this. Hat tip to Mord for having posted a link to it in the Discord server for the Otherkin Wiki. Many of the other sources that I’m listing here, I learned about them from this article.
Mustafa, Samer (Самер Мустафа) (September 11, 2024). “В России предложили запретить квадроберов.” (“Russia proposes banning quadrobics.”) Gazeta.ru. https://www.gazeta.ru/politics/news/2024/09/11/23896279.shtml?updated
Media Bias Fact Check says this is “one of Russia’s leading online newspapers,” but rates the newspaper as a questionable source, lacking in transparency. This article is a secondary source. It says RIA Novosti is the primary source for this news. That one is elsewhere in my list of sources.
Nekasrov, Ivan (Иван Некрасов) (September 3, 2024). “«Позор тебе и твоим фанатам»: Миа Бойка унизила ребенка со сцены — теперь ее требуют отменить.” (“‘Shame on you and your fans:’ Mia Boyka humiliated the child from the stage – now they demand to cancel it.”) Chita.ru. https://www.chita.ru/text/culture/2024/09/03/74039252/ Archived September 9, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240909054834/https://www.chita.ru/text/culture/2024/09/03/74039252/ In Russian.
This magazine article goes into the most depth about the pop singer publicly humiliating a small child for liking quadrobics.
RIA Novosti (November 9, 2024). “В Совфеде предложили запретить субкультуру квадроберов.” (“The Federation Council proposed banning the quadrobics subculture.”) RIA Novosti. https://ria.ru/20240911/kvadrobery-1971964812.html Archived October 8, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20241008010414/https://ria.ru/20240911/kvadrobery-1971964812.html
About the Senator’s proposal to ban quadrobics. I think this article may be the primary source for her proposal. It sounds like she said it directly to this newspaper. If there’s a legal source for the proposed ban itself, I don’t know where to look for it. Media Bias Fact Check rates this Russian government owned newspaper as a questionable source with state propaganda and many failed fact checks.
Titorenko, Danila (Данила Титоренко) (April 23, 2024). “В Татарстане рассказали о новой вредоносной субкультуре с Запада.” (“Tatarstan talks about a new harmful subculture from the West.”) Gazeta.ru. https://www.gazeta.ru/social/news/2024/04/23/22855358.shtml
Volynets says she will fight the furry fandom because it is from the West. She says that furries engage in psychologically destructive behavior, such as– she claims– eating out of troughs like pigs.
Vesnina, Alexandra (Александра Веснина) (April 27, 2024). “«Размытие границ»: Волынец увидела в квадробике расчеловечивание.” (“‘Blurring the Lines’: Volynets Sees Dehumanization in the Quadrobists.”)
Volynets announced in Russia's National News Service press center that after she spoke against quadrobists, she received death threats.
Vesnina, Alexandra (Александра Веснина) (April 27, 2024). “«Дурачество!»: Милонов предрек исчезновение квадробики через полгода.” (“‘Stupidity!’: Milonov predicts quadrobics will disappear in six months.”)
Vitaly Milnov is the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Paternity, Motherhood and Childhood. He says that the furry fandom and quadrobics are foolish teen fads that come from Japan and Korea. He says everyone will forget about it later this year.
Zakarian, Ekaterina (April 23, 2024). “Фурри заявили Ирине Волынец, что не подражают свиньям и не едят из корыта.” (“Furry told Irina Volynets that they do not imitate pigs and do not eat from troughs.”) Gazeta.ru. https://www.gazeta.ru/social/news/2024/04/23/22856132.shtml?updated
An anonymous administrator of a furry fandom community on the social media network VKontakte spoke up about how Volynets is spreading misinformation about furry fans. He says they don’t imitate animal behavior or eat from troughs, as Volynets claimed. Instead, they appreciate cartoon animals that behave like humans, including those from Soviet cartoons, not just from the West.
Zamanova, Rosalia (Розалия Заманова) (April 26, 2024). “Психиатр заявил об опасности субкультуры фурри для психики ребенка.” (“Psychiatrist warns about the dangers of a furry subculture for the psyche of the child.”) Gazeta.ru. https://www.gazeta.ru/social/news/2024/04/26/22877533.shtml
This is a secondary source reporting on the Public News Source’s interview with the children’s psychiatrist Alexander Federovich, which I have elsewhere in this list of sources.
Zamanova, Rosalia (Розалия Заманова) (May 2, 2024). “Волынец заявила об угрозах от представителей квадробика.” (“Volynets reported threats from representatives of quadrobics.”) Gazeta.ru. https://www.gazeta.ru/social/news/2024/05/02/22918993.shtml
Volynets claims that after she started writing on social media that quadrobists are dangerous, she received death threats from them.
Zamanova, Rosalia (Розалия Заманова) (September 12, 2024). “В Госдуме не поддержали идею запретить квадроберов в России.” (“Duma did not support banning quadrobics in Russia.”) Gazeta.ru. https://www.gazeta.ru/social/news/2024/09/12/23906437.shtml
This is a secondary source about the interview with 360.ru.

Emmanuel does not know where he is. He does not like that, because he is meant to know. He has travelled every inch of this earth, studying, learning, waiting, laying all of the strings carefully together in careful alignment. Every minute, every hour a necessary means to a glorious end. So why can't he sense them here? Where are all his careful machinations?
He spots someone who does seem to have control- someone with shifting eyes, fate-etched scars, and a thousand strings hanging softly from careful fingers. They could help him. Or more importantly, he could use them. So Emmanuel does what he does best and adopts a honeyed smile.
"Hello. Have we met before?"
@a-web-of-worlds
Amelie turns around when it hears a sort of familiar voice, jumping back slightly when it sees an equally familiar face. It's not their Elias, that's sure at first glance, but it's still odd to see him smiling like that.
"Not us."
It manages to say, still slightly taken aback. He's the last thing it wants to see,any version of Elias reminds them of what happened.

there's something so intrinsically human about the desire to create. to find purpose in every speck of paint. In every musical note. it's a tangible piece intertwined with your soul. it grows, gradually, into a clear web of her thoughts. it was real, and she didn't even know if she was just yet.
rivka liked to write for that reason alone. she felt closer to herself far more in those moments than any other. she liked to sit with her thoughts that way. it was the only way she knew who she was.
jonathan was there as well. he shouldn't have been, but his general requested he stay back. personal feelings never bode well with work.
"what are you writing about?"
he asks in a tone tinged with fatigue. it was clear he was exhausted, they all were. but this was different. in truth, rivka didn't understand why he made the effort to brighten her day when his own light lit was dimmed.
"journaling. when we land i figured it would be a good idea to document everything. for the future records."
lies lies lies. don't you get tired of lying?
he chuckles. "i always thought doctors hated writing, from all the reports they do. it seems like the least interesting part of their job."
"good thing i'm not a doctor."
it was silent. for one moment, then two. if they were both quiet enough, they could hear each other's breathing. not an ounce of oxygen wasted between them.
he leans against the wall. "how's everything going for you?"
she recited in her head.
my mother was a respected scientist. my father was a commanding astronaut. he liked watching old world sports. my mother liked--
she snapped out of her thoughts, closing her notebook. "it was your brother, wasn't it?"
jonathan sighs, which said more than any words could. rivka heard stories of the major. of his brother's untimely demise. how he was lost in a cosmic abyss, sentenced to live a noble death amongst the stars. he was gone.
he shouldn't be here. he shouldn't be here. he shouldn't be here.
"but he is," she said for her, echoing his own thoughts out loud.
jonathan looked back at her. "yes, he is."
-----
the faint wiring of the machines hummed in the background as the major continued to think. he had a tendency to tap his fingers against the wood, keeping him in line with the internal rhythm.
jonathan liked looking into her eyes. so dark they could be mistaken for two deep abyssal pools. he only saw her smile once, caring for an older patient recounting an old tale they'd never be able to relive. a shame, he could have sworn he saw her eyes glisten as her lips curled upward. a glimpse of something dangerous. yet powerful.
hope.
if he believed in a higher power, he would say that fate ended up working in his favor to satisfy his deep-seated curiosity. she was always in his orbit, but just out of reach. but in that moment, he understood what it felt like to be in the presence of celestial alignment.
at some point, his thoughts took a more selfish turn. his eyebrows furrowed at the sudden impiety that coursed through his veins. but it was a sudden rush. like his body had been thrusted back into the atmosphere.
he wondered what it would be like to savor the taste of her lips. over and over until every fiber of his being was infused with her essence. for his fingers to trail down her smooth skin, as if chiseled out of marble.
in a strange twist of fate, she became his guiding star.

Peter Parker x Stark! Reader
——————————————————
Y/N Stark always thought she was destined for something more. Being Tony Stark’s daughter came with certain expectations: brilliance, charisma, and, of course, high standards. She prided herself on her sharp tongue, her quick wit, and her ability to brush off any affection with a roll of her eyes and a sarcastic quip.
Peter Parker? He was an anomaly in her world. The Queens-born, tech-savvy, spider-powered nerd somehow managed to worm his way into her life, much to her chagrin. Their relationship was built on a foundation of banter—playful, biting, and sometimes a little too cutting. It was their thing.
“Nice web-shooters, Parker. Did you get them out of a cereal box?” Y/N teased, leaning against the lab bench with a smirk.
Peter shot her a look, adjusting his goggles. “Better than your last invention. What was it? A self-tying shoelace? Groundbreaking.”
She scoffed, crossing her arms. “At least I’m not swinging around the city like a human piñata.”
This was their routine. The bickering, the sarcastic jabs, the eye rolls. It was comfortable, predictable. But something had shifted lately. There was a new tension in the air, something neither of them wanted to acknowledge.
It all came to a head one evening, after a late-night lab session. Y/N was working on a new prototype while Peter fiddled with his suit upgrades. The room was quiet, save for the hum of machines and the occasional clink of tools. They were both tired, the exhaustion making their usual banter sharper than usual.
“Hey, Stark,” Peter called out, not looking up from his work. “You ever think about lowering those impossible standards of yours?”
Y/N shot him a glare. “Why? Feeling like you’re finally good enough for me?”
Peter chuckled, the sound surprisingly soft. “Maybe. Or maybe I’m just tired of pretending I don’t like you.”
Y/N froze, the words hanging in the air between them. She opened her mouth to retort, to throw some biting remark back at him, but nothing came out. Instead, she found herself staring at him, really looking at him for the first time in a while.
Peter met her gaze, his usual smirk replaced with something more serious, more vulnerable. And in that moment, something clicked.
Without thinking, without considering the consequences, Y/N crossed the room and kissed him. It was sudden, unexpected, and it knocked the wind out of both of them. For a moment, everything else faded away—the lab, the banter, the expectations.
When they finally pulled apart, Y/N’s mind was racing. She felt lightheaded, almost dizzy, but she quickly masked it with her usual bravado.
“Well,” she said, trying to sound nonchalant. “I think my standards just hit rock bottom.”
Peter laughed, shaking his head. “You can’t even admit you like me, can you?”
Y/N huffed, stepping back. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. That was… a momentary lapse in judgment.”
Peter raised an eyebrow. “Right. Because kissing me was such a terrible mistake.”
She rolled her eyes, turning away to hide the blush creeping up her neck. “Don’t get used to it, Parker. I still have standards.”
But even as she said the words, Y/N couldn’t ignore the way her heart raced whenever she looked at him. Maybe her standards were changing. Or maybe, just maybe, she was starting to realize that Peter Parker was exactly what she needed.
As she walked out of the lab, she couldn’t help but smile. Maybe the stars were finally aligning, and for once, she didn’t mind letting her guard down.

The Price of Compliance
The dissident had long since learned that his life no longer belonged to him. It had been broken, reshaped, and now it was just another thread in the web of the Republic’s ever-tightening grip. He had been called to the station again, this time for tea—a peculiar formality, one that rang hollow, knowing the game was far from over. He knew that when they asked him to come for tea, it wasn’t a gesture of goodwill. It was just another step in the machinery of the Republic’s control.

He entered the room with the same apprehension he’d carried each time before. The table was set, the tea brewed with the same meticulous attention to detail as always. There was no warmth, no comfort to be found here, only the coldness of inevitability, the sharp edge of the system’s relentless progress.
The intelligence enforcer, as polished as ever, stood up and gestured toward the seat across from him. The enforcer’s bald head gleamed under the harsh light of the room, his black overall uniform a stark contrast to the gleaming chrome of his surroundings. “Please, sit,” he said, his voice smooth and professional. “I trust you’re well. I have something for you today.”
The dissident sat, his chest heavy with a mixture of dread and resignation. Before he could speak, the enforcer motioned toward the door, and a young man stepped into the room—a cadet in full-body armor, just like the ones he had seen in the academy videos, but without a helmet. The cadet’s face was smooth, devoid of any individual identity save for the glaringly efficient demeanor of someone molded by the system. His shaved head gleamed under the light, an unmistakable symbol of the uniformity that the Republic demanded.
“Let me introduce you to Cadet K7L32,” the intelligence enforcer said with a thin smile. “He’s in his second year at the academy. The same academy your son is at.”
The dissident’s stomach twisted. He didn’t know what he had expected, but it certainly wasn’t this—wasn’t the sight of a boy so like his own son, now turned into a cog in the machine. The young man, K7L32, stood at attention, his posture perfect, his eyes steely with the conditioning that had been drilled into him.
“He’s currently on placement, learning the practical side of his training,” the enforcer continued, his voice as neutral as the rest of the room. “But he’s on a special assignment. You see, K7L32’s experience mirrors your son’s. And I believe, as a father, you’ll find it enlightening.”
The cadet’s gaze never wavered, his expression unreadable. The enforcer didn’t wait for the dissident’s response before continuing, pressing a report card across the table.
“This,” the enforcer said, “is your son’s most recent assessment.”
The dissident’s hands trembled slightly as he picked up the sheet, the weight of the words pressing down on him. It was a mixture of statistics, clinical evaluations, and—what could only be described as—metrics that felt less like a child’s academic report and more like a list of data points for a project. The numbers were precise, cold, unfeeling. Some of them were familiar enough: grades, physical evaluations, psychological profiling. But others, others were... strange.
“Efficient Adaptation: 98%,” he read aloud, his voice sounding alien to his own ears.
“Neuro-Plasticity Activation: 92%.”
“Emotional Alignment: 75%.”
“Motivational Structure Transformation: 67%.”
“Deviation from Standard Protocol: 2%.”
There was more, far more. Words like “neuro-conditioning,” “behavioral reprogramming,” “inhibitor reinforcement.” The dissident blinked, his mind struggling to make sense of the jargon, the cold, dispassionate metrics. He couldn’t breathe.
“What does this mean?” he asked, his voice hoarse, as the enormity of it all began to sink in. The enforcer and the cadet exchanged a look, as if they were discussing the intricacies of a well-oiled machine, and the dissident was just another part of the process.
“Ah, yes,” Cadet K7L32 said, his voice laced with the practiced cynicism that only someone conditioned by the system could carry. “You see, sir, your son’s transformation is well underway. The academy has been working on him for some time now. It’s all about the integration of the Republic’s ideals into the very core of his being. His motivational structure, for instance—it’s been optimized. What was once a bratty, rebellious kid, full of selfishness and defiance, is now being shaped into someone who will serve the Republic without hesitation. The emotional alignment score? It shows how well he’s adjusting to the concept of personal sacrifice. The motivation towards selfless service.”
The dissident’s mouth went dry. Selfless service? His son?
“The neuro-plasticity score shows how his brain is adapting to the necessary changes,” the cadet continued, his words flowing with practiced ease. “The parts of his mind that once entertained rebellion, doubt, independent thought? They’re being rewired. Reinforced with the right signals. The system is methodically breaking him down and rebuilding him—better, stronger, more loyal.”
The dissident’s breath came in shallow gasps. His son was being broken? He had no words for this—none that could capture the horror of it. He could feel the tears building up behind his eyes, but he forced them back. He couldn’t give them the satisfaction.
Cadet K7L32 continued, each word another twist of the knife. “And the deviation score? That’s the only thing we’re worried about. A little low, you see? That means there’s still some resistance—but don’t worry, we have ways of addressing that. We’ll ensure your son’s complete integration with the Republic’s vision.” His smile was barely perceptible, a tight twist of something resembling pride, though it was hard to tell if it was real.
The dissident turned to the enforcer, who was watching all of this with a detached calm, the faintest hint of a smirk pulling at the corner of his lips.
“All because you signed the papers,” the enforcer said, his voice like cold steel. “Your son’s future was sealed the moment you agreed to their transfer. All of it. Every change, every transformation, every sacrifice he’ll make—it’s all on you. You gave us the power. And now, you get to watch.”

The words landed like a physical blow, a crushing weight that pressed the air from his lungs. He had signed the papers. He had been too weak to fight back, too naive to see what it would lead to. His son was already gone—already being shaped into something he would never recognize, never understand.
The room seemed to close in on him. The tea, the report card, the cold, unfeeling faces of the cadet and the enforcer—all of it was a blur now. He could no longer feel his own hands, only the cold, jagged sense of loss as it began to sink in: his son was no longer his son.
He had become another perfect cadet. Another cog in the machine.

"Time bends where flowers bloom,
The clock ticks down to nature's doom."

"Fire that burns, a heart ablaze,
Heat and flame, in fury's daze."
Blaze
A walking inferno, he ignites everything in his path, channeling a fierce inner fire that consumes all in its wake.
"Invisible steps, shadows in tow,

The first to fall when danger is near."
The Canary
A harbinger of things yet to come, his instincts lead him through danger before it even arrives, always one step ahead of fate.
"A rumble deep, the ground obeys,
The earth itself moves to his ways."
Quake
The ground trembles beneath him, his bond with the earth unshakable. He moves like a force of nature, unrelenting and unstoppable.
"In roots and leaves, life she finds,
Nature's strength, in her entwines."
Flora
Life flourishes wherever she goes, her touch breathing growth and renewal into the world, as if nature itself responds to her call.
"In darkness she dwells with deadly grace,
A hidden blade in shadow's embrace."
Nightshade
A figure of the shadows, slipping through the cracks of reality unnoticed. Where she goes, the darkness follows, but by the time you see her, it’s already too late.

SHOPKEEPERS
Finally! All of my secret bosses' shopkeeper friends are here!
LOOK AT THEM! LOOK AT THEM NOW!
Now i'll proceed to give quick descriptions of them.
Ms. Mari: Old actress that played the role of Woostern's mother on the "Woostern & Friends" show, however both of them did develop a real mother and daughter-like relationship over time. She locked the shadow crystal on a safe after Woostern's dissapearence and keeps looking for her to this day, even though everyone else thinks that Asriel took Woostern with him when he went to college. Light World Object: Trash Flowers
Zocker (DESIGNED BY CREEPA-BOT !!): Sockling No. 45. Cool sock skater dude that taught Bonslick how to skate, and they used to do all kind of crazy stuff together. They haven't seen each other in some time after Bonslick went insane though. No real connection to the machine in the basement or anything, but he does know how to get the key. Light World Object: Sans' Lone Sock
Tool-Eo: Old technician man that helped the lightners in the creation of the Bunz-E animatronic. After that, he basically was the one who trained Bunz-E's AI. He taught him how to do some magic tricks, how to treat the guests, and who he was supposed to defend. After the incident however, he was forced to dismantle the animatronic and hide his leftover part behind a sealed wall in the basement. Light World Object: Toolbox
The Egglins: A group of rowdy egg childs that just do whatever they want. They used to play with Quiddo all the time, after all, the weird ones gotta' stick together! Until the day that Quiddo suddenly wandered off too far and dissapeared, they tried to look for them to no avail. Also, they found something weird in the trash recently, some strange looking flowers that make a bridge when you align them in the water... They don't know what to do with them. Light World Object: Eggs, they're eggs
Modi-Fi: Mad Alien Scientist that used to work for Space Emperor. She was... Really close to Shikari. They used to run tests together, it's a lot easier when the voluntary test subject is basically indestructible. The day of the incident, she was forced to retain Shikari and exile her to the Dark Webs, as well as to hide the Shifang. That day she almost got killed... it was as if Shikari didn't even recognize her... Light World Object: Mod Installing Program
So yeah, that's it, i hope you like them!
... Hmm? What about Sakriss' friend? Well... Sakriss is still a mistery. For now.

I'm on the TMA grind (on EP 160 currently, bawled my eyes out) so I put them in TMA. sorry. it had to happen (yapping under cut)
shout out to @/senaaaard for helping me pick who would be aligned with what ...
aster is obviously the corruption. plants, yes, alien artifacts poking at you and getting under your skin, yep, aaaaand toxic relationships!! Codependency that she KNOWS isn't healthy but god she needs someone!!! and that sick bastardization of love and affection festers and twists in her and it feels awful but she needs it to survive!!!! Anyway her design was difficult to come up with because it kept looking like Jane Prentiss but Aster (which it still kinda does, but it's hard to avoid that when I want her design to show off all the yucky corruptiony parts on her skin y'know?) but I think picking the theme of heart rot as opposed to worms and trypophobia gave me a good start! the blood-red mushrooms and exposed decaying muscles that are contorted and stylized to look like tree insides...I imagine the corset is holding her brittle, exposed ribcage together. I might end up doing more doodles to explore this design of her if I'm not too embarrassed to indulge myself...also Aster would probably be marked by the flesh for obvious reasons
Beatrice being the desolation was also pretty easy to decide I think! The loss of potential...any kind of love she tries to share ends up leading to ruin...the literal death...yeah. Hence the deep mourning attire! I hardly ever draw Beatrice in mourning attire so this was really fun. The flame-feather is a tad cartoony I suppose but I think it's fun! I also really love her hair being burnt and singed so short, and the detail of her wearing Charles' glasses. Forever holding onto that loss of potential and (in this universe) fully leaning into the idea that she can do nothing but destroy forever. yeag 👍Beatrice and Aster can still be gay in this universe I think Beatrice would cauterize Aster's wounds (for them to inevitably reopen again) (I might doodle this also.)
Charles was harder to pick! The eye of course the first thing that came to my head, but his thirst for knowledge is more of a byproduct of his other issues. The end was also a contendor, but his feelings towards death is too 100percent pure fear that I don't think he'd ever be able to meaningfully worship it in any way (like Grace could, despite being equally terrified). The web I think fits because 1. he's. manipulative,, obviously. he banks a Lot on being able to talk to the right people the right way, and of course attempts to (with varying degrees of success) control Aster. The idea of "roles" also inspired the choice, and his design; Charles believes he can place himself in the role of "the main character" or "the hero" and similarly puts Aster in the role of sacrifice or martyr; again, controlling, putting things where he wants them to be. I played with designs of him looking even more decrepid than in canon, but ended up making him look neat and tidy to correlate with the "gentleman" role he puts himself in, or believes he is expected to fulfill. The string figure is just there for visual flair, but the specific string figure it is was very intentional :3 also I think ideas of the end can still peek in with the web. Being pulled to an inevitable fate out of one's control something something.
I don't have designs at the moment for these guys but! I have thoughts!
Grace is the end, obviously. There was death precursoring her birth, death early on in life, she's terrified of death but feels she belongs in a grave, she doesn't feel human so she doesn't feel alive, she dies, she is death, et cetera. That's gracie! Maybe marked by the buried. The one episode of the gravedigger who kept sleeping in graves gave me Grace vibes. she's probably marked by a lot of fears actually. she goes through it
Georgie is the extinction; death from a man-made machine, but the important part is what happens after him; what his absence causes. yeag
I'm really REALLY struggling with what Marty and Eli would be (because they're. The most well adjusted of the cast, I suppose) but maybe I'll come up with them and post my designs for the city trio then. maybe,,...

SQL Server 2022 Edition and License instructions
SQL Server 2022 Editions:
• Enterprise Edition is ideal for applications requiring mission critical in-memory performance, security, and high availability
• Standard Edition delivers fully featured database capabilities for mid-tier applications and data marts
SQL Server 2022 is also available in free Developer and Express editions. Web Edition is offered in the Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) program only.
And the Online Store Keyingo Provides the SQL Server 2017/2019/2022 Standard Edition.
SQL Server 2022 licensing models
SQL Server 2022 offers customers a variety of licensing options aligned with how customers typically purchase specific workloads. There are two main licensing models that apply to SQL Server: PER CORE: Gives customers a more precise measure of computing power and a more consistent licensing metric, regardless of whether solutions are deployed on physical servers on-premises, or in virtual or cloud environments.
• Core based licensing is appropriate when customers are unable to count users/devices, have Internet/Extranet workloads or systems that integrate with external facing workloads.
• Under the Per Core model, customers license either by physical server (based on the full physical core count) or by virtual machine (based on virtual cores allocated), as further explained below.
SERVER + CAL: Provides the option to license users and/or devices, with low-cost access to incremental SQL Server deployments.
• Each server running SQL Server software requires a server license.
• Each user and/or device accessing a licensed SQL Server requires a SQL Server CAL that is the same version or newer – for example, to access a SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition server, a user would need a SQL Server 2019 or 2022 CAL.
Each SQL Server CAL allows access to multiple licensed SQL Servers, including Standard Edition and legacy Business Intelligence and Enterprise Edition Servers.SQL Server 2022 Editions availability by licensing model:
Physical core licensing – Enterprise Edition
• Customers can deploy an unlimited number of VMs or containers on the server and utilize the full capacity of the licensed hardware, by fully licensing the server (or server farm) with Enterprise Edition core subscription licenses or licenses with SA coverage based on the total number of physical cores on the servers.
• Subscription licenses or SA provide(s) the option to run an unlimited number of virtual machines or containers to handle dynamic workloads and fully utilize the hardware’s computing power.
Virtual core licensing – Standard/Enterprise Edition
When licensing by virtual core on a virtual OSE with subscription licenses or SA coverage on all virtual cores (including hyperthreaded cores) on the virtual OSE, customers may run any number of containers in that virtual OSE. This benefit applies both to Standard and Enterprise Edition.
Licensing for non-production use
SQL Server 2022 Developer Edition provides a fully featured version of SQL Server software—including all the features and capabilities of Enterprise Edition—licensed for development, test and demonstration purposes only. Customers may install and run the SQL Server Developer Edition software on any number of devices. This is significant because it allows customers to run the software on multiple devices (for testing purposes, for example) without having to license each non-production server system for SQL Server.
A production environment is defined as an environment that is accessed by end-users of an application (such as an Internet website) and that is used for more than gathering feedback or acceptance testing of that application.
SQL Server 2022 Developer Edition is a free product !

Oh I definitely will! I really have had such a busy weekend (which is not changing today, given I've had this ask open on my phone for an hour and a half trying to finish a short answer haha) and I do like to let my thoughts percolate for a bit when I have more in-depth analysis.
I think there's also something to be said for seeing what other people have written! There is really a lot to be said about this episode in terms of the implications for the wider world, both in terms of larger conflicts we haven't caught up with in a while—so, virtually all of the Wildemount wizards outside of Caleb, Trent-exempt considering he's not really a factor in the Assembly's web of political machinations anymore—and also on an individual character level.
I think it's worth noting that we have had virtually no information on Essek's existence since the end of the campaign, seven years ago in universe—even his brief appearance in Rexxentrum raised more questions than it answered. And this appearance already carries a massive amount of implications! I think it's fun to say it in conversation with the rest of the fandom, and other people have definitely expressed great thoughts that align with many of mine, so it's not really necessary to add anything! I also haven't had a chance to keep up with that either, even as much as I've been reblogging things.
#i actually did get through half a post riffing on a post from sky-scribbles that i haven't even gotten to reblog yet lol#but oh my god there's so much#cr spoilers
